Abstract

ABSTRACT Tonda, Maria G. 2022. Perlocutionary Acts as Seen in Eleanore Lindo’s Crazy for Christmas. Undergraduate Thesis. English Literature Study Program. Faculty of Language and Literature. Flores University. Advisor I: Gratiana Sama, S.Pd.,M.Hum., and Advisor II: Fransiskus. M. Separ, S.S.,M.Pd. This study aimed at finding out the aspect and the most dominant aspect of perlocutionary act as seen in Eleanore Lindo’s “Crazy for Christmas“.The methodused in this study was mix method. Descriptive qualitative was used to finding outthe aspects of the perlocutionary acts and quantitave method was used to figure out the most dominant aspect of perlocutionary act as seen in Eleanore Lindo’s “Crazy for Christmas“. The data in this study were taken from Crazy for Christmas movie and the data were in form of utterances. The result shows that there are ten aspects of perlocutionary act as seen in Eleanore Lindo’s “Crazy for Christmas“. Those aspects are hearer knows something (3), hearer is persuaded (10), hearer is iritatated (9), hearer is impressed (4), hearer is amused (5), hearer isdoing something (1), hearer thinking of something (3), hearer tension is relive (2), hearer attention is distract (7), hearer is bored (1). Meanwhile, the most dominant aspect of perlocutionary act is the hearer is persuaded aspect with the percentage 22,22%.
