Abstract

ABSTRACT Nua, Erminolda Oktavia. 2022. The Lesbianism Experienced by Tala and Leyla in Shamim Sarif’s I Can’t Think Straight Movie (Queer Approach). Undergraduate Thesis. English Literature Study Program Faculty of Language and Literature Flores University. Advisor I: Febe F. Irawati Wanggai, S.S.,M.Hum., Advisor II: Maksimilianus Doi, S.S.,M.Pd. The aims of the study were to identify the causes and find out the effects of the lesbianism experienced by Tala and Leyla in Shamim Sarif’s I Can’t Think Straight Movie. This study used queer approach with descriptive qualitative research design. The data gained were from Shamim Sarif’s I Can’t Think Straight Movie in the form of words, phrases, and sentences. The results of the study denotes that the causes of lesbianism experienced by the main character in the film I Can’t Think Straight is inability of relatingto the opposite sex and the effects of lesbianism experienced by the main character in the film I Can’t Think Straight are the difficulty to maintain relationship with the opposite sex and jealous reactions.
