ABSTRACT Lanu, Oktavia I. 2022. Adjacency Pair and Preference Organization in Emma Watson and Dan Stevens Video Interview. English Literature Study Program. Faculty of Language and Literature. Flores University. Supervisor: Dr. Drs. Rambut Kanisius, M. Hum. & Yuliana M. D'Karmel Kara, S.Pd.,M.Pd. This study aimed to find out the types of two elements of conversation, namely adjacency pair and preference organization of Emma Watson and Dan Stevens conversation video. The analysis of this study was based on the theory proposed by Paltridge (2012:93). The object of this research was the utterances spoken during the conversation. The data in this study were obtained by using the method of observation and documentary analysis. Qualitative descriptive method was used to provide a comprehensive description of the types of Adjacency Pair and Preference Organizations in video conversations. The results of this study are to find out types of adjacency pair and preference organization. Each element has several types, they are question�answer, greeting-greeting, request-agreement, opinion provide-comment, and assessment-agreement for adjacency pair’s types and preferred-dispreferred for preference organization’s types. How the types of two elements can organize the conversation between Emma and Dan is describes in the analysis.
