Abstract
ABSTRACT The Meaning of Po’o Traditional Rituals To Explore Cultural Values of Local Wisdom With Inner Character Education IPS SD Learning Hermina Even Teacher Education Study Progran Elementary School, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Flores, 2021 herminaeven@gmail.com. The objectives of this study are: 1) To know the process of implementing the Po’o traditional rituals in the people of Ratpassang Village South, 2) To find out the cultural values of local wisdom contained in Po’o traditional rituals and 3) To know charater education after carry out the cultural values of local wisdom in elementary social studies learning. The method used in this study is a qualitative metheod, the data sources used in this study are primary data and data secondary. The data collection technique consists of observation, interview, documentation and photos. Based on the research results it can be concluded that Po’o comes from lio language which means bamboo. The Po’o ritual is a traditional ceremony which was inherited by their ancestors and upheld by the community Molutangga and passed on to future generations. The traditional ritual run by the Molutangga community carried out for one day and in once a year. This ritual is performed to beg Du’a Nggae Gheta Lulu Wula, Nggae Ghale Wena Tanah and Embu Mamo for fertilize the soil and start the growing season in an agricultural system. In the Po’o ceremony, there are three values in it, namely: 1) Social value in Po’o is the togetherness and brotherhood of the Molutangga community, 2) Cultural value in this ritual is the preservation of the cultural heritage of the grandmother Molutangga community ancestors and 3) Religious Value in carrying out rituals Po’o custom when giving offerings to Du’a Nggae, Begging God to be given fertility and abundant crops. Charater education in children is a charater building process to have a positive impact on emotional, spiritual development and personality. The purpose of charater education is to develop potential conscience or the effectiveness of the child as a human being and a citizen have charater values, develop habits and behavior of children who praiseworthy and in line.
