Abstract

ABSTRACT Alo, Rosiana. 2022. Speech Disfluency as Seen in Autoro Gavinos’ Before All Others. Undergraduate Thesis, English Literature Study Program. Faculty of Language and Literature.Flores University. Advisor: Dr. Simon Sira Paji, M.A and Fransiskus Maria Separ, S.S.,M.Pd. This study aimed at determining the types of speech disfluency and the most dominantspeech disfluency as seen in Autoro Gavino’s movie Before All Others. The method used in this study wasa qualitative method to determine the types of speech disfluency and the quantitative methodwas used to count the most frequent types found in the Before All Othersmovie. The data in this study was taken from the Before All Others movie and the data form of utterances. The result shows that there are 99uterances showing eight types of speech disfluency in Before All Others. Those types are silent pause (18), filled pause (11), repetition (25), interjection (18), un-retraced false start (1), retraced false start (1), correction (1), and stutter (24). Meanwhile, the most frequent type of speech disfluency that appears in Before All Othersis repetition with a percentage 25.25%.
